About Us

Camel dairy Smits was founded by Frank Smits in 2006. The farm is located in the village of Berlicum near 's-Hertogenbosch. It is the only camel dairy in Europe and its milk is the only one legally allowed to be sold in the EU. Besides being sold in the Netherlands, the camel milk is also exported to the UK, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Sweden, among others.

The company's camels are in fact dromedaries (single-humped camels), imported from the Canary Islands. There are already about 100 dromedaries of which about 25 are milked, which yields a total of about 175 litres of milk per day.
